Native Americans in New Mexico or Arizona; adobe southwestern architecture; VS of Grand Canyon.Appears to be poor quality, as it's lenticular color that appears out of focus in B&W.

Made by the RWU (see below), this silent German film shows the lives of farmers (or "Fellah") living in Northern Egypt near Cairo and likely dates to the 1930s or early 1940s. Some of the scenes include life along the Nile, camels and Bedouins, typical homes and making of mud bricks and clay pots, grinding of flour using a stone wheel and preparation of food, and it ends with scenes of women washing their clothes in the river. Fellah (Arabic: فلاح‎‎, fallāḥ; plural...

"Vodoun" plays on the contrast between soulful voices from Benin and the porn grooves of Chenard Walcker. The sound is rough, close to saturation. So Faders up ! Chenard went to Benin (Western Africa) years ago. He bought there some tapes by two traditionnal singers, Le Roi Alokpon and Alekpehanhou. All the voices of "Vodoun" were sampled from these two tapes. Benin is where is practiced the rite of Vodoun. It's also historically the place from where the slaves were sent to...

It's time for the hot and eclectic rhytms of Brazilian favelas. Yes, you guessed right, Favela Blast Off party is back! This time we will shake club K4. Brazilian masters of funk carioca (or Baile funk as people tend to call it here) Bonde Do Role stopped by to record a live session for Liz Berg's show while on break from their tour with The Death Set . Miami bass, heavy sampling and manic high energy were all in full effect for this brief 4 song set. Also included is an interview where Shooby Taylor, Elijah Wood and Diplo were all discussed but I'm really just putting it up so you can experience DJ Gorky's highly listenable vocal delivery....

Particular reference is made to connotative meanings of words; reference to the second person; the meaning of the term "multilingual"; dialects, subdialects and idiolects; psychological subtleties and emotional implications in the use of non-native languages; and phonological...
